IT’S A FAMILY AFFAIR.
Madea’s (Tyler Perry) great-grandson (Brandon Black) is graduating from college, a moment when the whole family and a few colorful Irish friends gather.
The expected comfort food for fans of Perry, with one difference: the film is a crossover with another comedy franchise starring a man in drag, Brendan O’Carroll, star of the Irish sitcom Mrs. Brown’s Boys (2011- ).
Sadly, Mrs. Brown doesn’t have much to contribute and as so often before, Perry’s social messages get lost in the nonsense.
2022-U.S. VOD. 105 min. Color. Widescreen. Directing, screenplay, play: Tyler Perry (”Madea’s Farewell Play”). Cast: Tyler Perry (Madea/Joe), Cassi Davis-Patton (Aunt Bam), David Mann (Leroy Brown), Tamela Mann, Gabrielle Dennis, Brandon Black.
Trivia: Alternative title: Tyler Perry’s A Madea Homecoming. Co-executive produced by Perry. Madea next appeared in Madea’s Destination Wedding (2025).
