Ant-Man and the Wasp

REAL HEROES. NOT ACTUAL SIZE.

After the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016), Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is under house arrest; soon, he becomes involved in an attempt to find Hope’s (Evangeline Lilly) mother (Michelle Pfeiffer) who’s been trapped in the quantum realm for 30 years.

A sequel that almost matches the original, as it continues to explore everyday dangers for Marvel’s smallest superhero. Terrific visual effects in 3D (especially during a San Francisco chase) and the movie remains true to its humorous and appealingly family-friendly tone.

Thin story, but the cast and sheer sense of fun make up for it.

2018-U.S. 118 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Peyton Reed. Cast: Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Evangeline Lilly (Hope van Dyne/Wasp), Michael Peña (Luis), Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne. Cameo: Stan Lee.

Trivia: A younger version of Fishburne’s character is played by his son, Langston. Followed by Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023).
