The search for what ails modern men and boys continues, often in a condescending manner that leaves them wide open for far-right charlatans who prey on their sense of isolation and lack of role models, offering help in the shape of cult mentality, oppressive ideas about patriarchy, and religion.
Feminist filmmaker Hampus Linder approaches one of these groups who allow him to visit them and film activities, as long as he himself participates. This he does, and finds himself challenged when it comes to his role as a father and as a son to a man who wasn’t really there when he needed him as a child.
This documentary turns into a personal, well-produced film that feels honest and refuses to walk into predictable traps.
2025-Sweden-Denmark-Norway. 97 min. Color-B/W. Widescreen. Directed by Hampus Linder.
