Physician Gabriel Glas (Isac Calmroth), a lonely virgin, becomes obsessed with a model (Thea Sofie Loch Næss) who’s stuck in an unhappy marriage with a famous author (Christian Fandango Sundgren).
This modernized adaptation of Hjalmar Söderberg’s brilliant novel offers a slick surface, both in terms of coldly elegant milieus and three attractive leads. The ambition is to explore the dark emotions of this triangle, but the story never seems believable enough, or worthy of our emotional commitment.
A new Eyes Wide Shut (1999) it ain’t.
