A STORY ABOUT THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE, AND HOW TO SURVIVE THEM.
When Ella McCay (Emma Mackey) is surprisingly named governor of her state, she’s thrown into a crisis caused by herself and her husband (Jack Lowden).
James L. Brooks’s first film in 15 years has a tagline that tries to explain what this comedy is about, which is a good thing because the script is a complete mess, addressing various family and relationship issues without getting anywhere – and, frustratingly, without entertaining us.
The cast is wasted, including Julie Kavner in her first onscreen role in decades.
