Freddy Vs. Jason

WINNER KILLS ALL.

Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) manipulates Jason Vorhees (Ken Kerzinger) into slaughtering teens on Elm Street; that’s supposed to make Freddy strong enough to mount a comeback.

On paper, this is a fun idea that took years to materialize; one hoped for something creative to come out of it, but the set-up for this ultimate showdown is about as preposterous as they come and results are uneven.

Decent enough visual effects, and the movie gives its killers equal screen time, but the teens in jeopardy are far less compelling than the two monsters.

2003-U.S. 97 min. Color. Widescreen. Produced by Sean S. Cunningham. Directed by Ronny Yu. Cast: Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger), Ken Kerzinger (Jason Vorhees), Monica Keena (Lori Campbell), Jason Ritter, Kelly Rowland, Christopher George Marquette… Evangeline Lilly.

Trivia: Rob Zombie was considered for directing duties. Kane Hodder, who played Jason in several Friday the 13th flicks, was Cunningham’s favored choice, but was ultimately not chosen.
