ROMANCE IS DEAD.

On Valentine’s Day, Ally McCabe and Jay Simmonds (Olivia Holt, Mason Gooding) end up fighting a serial killer who mistakenly believes they’re a couple.

Released in time for Valentine’s Day, this blend of romantic comedy and slasher delivers within both genres. Not separately – as a slasher it relies on a predictable, masked murderer; as a romcom its sense of humor is bland and silly – but the combination serves to strengthen thrills and laughs.

Satisfyingly bloody; sometimes it reminds us of Scream (1996), especially when a twist is revealed near the end.
