In this likable family sitcom, stand-up comedian Tim Allen was the clumsy host of “Tool Time”, a do-it-yourself TV show. All too often “the Toolman” was injured in his work and life with his wife and three boisterous sons could be just as difficult. The wise neighbor Wilson (whose entire face remained a secret until the final episode) and the enthusiastic co-host Al were his friends.
Scripts often examined differences between the sexes; predictable, but Allen’s sense of humor made the difference.
Some episodes were set outside the studio in an obvious attempt to find new possibilities for Tim to fall on his ass, but the show did well without the chaos he’d trigger at those times.
