Never Alone

In 1942, during the Continuation War in Finland, Jewish businessman Abraham Stiller (Ville Virtanen) does his best to help other Jews from being sent to Germany.

Another historical drama from director Klaus Härö, as always in competent hands, this time depicting a Helsinki where life goes on in the shadow of war and Nazi presence. Apart from crafting a portrait of Stiller, the filmmakers also take on Stapo, a police agency at the time, and its leader (Kari Hietalahti) who becomes Stiller’s chief nemesis.

An interesting slice of Finnish history, even if the dramatization is somewhat unremarkable.
