$25,000. 1 NIGHT. NO OTHER OPTIONS.
Lynette (Vanessa Kirby), who’s juggling three jobs, spends one night desperately trying to come up with $25,000 needed to keep herself, her mother (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and brother (Zack Gottsagen) from losing their home.
It’s easy to see why Kirby was drawn to this project. The part of Lynette would be attractive to any actor: a former escort who has to use all her wits to save the only family she has left, a narcissistic mother and an intellectually disabled brother. The cast is indeed a major asset here.
The film is never subtle in its depiction of misery, but strikes a chord.
