In 1940, Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) is nursing a death wish, but finds himself drawn back to the family business that his son (Barry Keoghan) has turned into a reign of terror.
A worthy conclusion to the 2013-2022 series that benefits from Murphy’s performance as an aging mobster who’s still lethal when he needs to be. Much of the film feels like an entire season of the show crammed into feature length; expect bigger explosions and wartime tension.
Fans will feel right at home, for better and worse; part of the story, involving a British traitor, is reminiscent of the plot in the sixth season.
