HE’S FOUND HER.
In this third film in the series, Carol Anne’s (Heather O’Rourke) family is out of the picture and the setting has changed from a California house to a Chicago highrise where she’s temporarily living with her aunt and uncle (Tom Skerritt, Nancy Allen).
Carol Anne’s clairvoyance is still attracting ghosts, but this film has the feel of a bad Halloween sequel. There’s a few spooky mirror tricks, but the visual effects are far from impressive and O’Rourke was more effective in earlier films.
1988-U.S. 97 min. Color. Directed by Gary Sherman. Cast: Tom Skerritt (Bruce Gardner), Nancy Allen (Patricia Gardner), Heather O’Rourke (Carol Anne Freeling), Zelda Rubinstein, Lara Flynn Boyle, Kip Wentz.
Trivia: Craig T. Nelson was asked to return, but declined. Part of this franchise’s mythology is a rumor that it is cursed – Dominique Dunne was murdered after the first movie, Julian Beck died of cancer after the second one and O’Rourke died shortly after this third film.
