In 1930s Torne Valley, the members of a religious cult expect a flying ark to descend from the heavens and take them to Palestine, but when disappointment sets in everything gets out of control.
Inspired by actual events (and a novel by Bengt Pohjanen), the story addresses the kind of oppression that can give rise to a cult as an expression of resistance; in this case, Swedes forced their language and culture on the people of Torne Valley.
Striking cinematography; Jessica Grabowsky leads a fine cast, even if the frustrating marriage at the center of the film is the least engaging part.
