Detective Michelle Calderone (Jurnee Smollett) is assigned to help arson investigator Dave Gudsen (Taron Egerton) stop a series of fires in the community of Umberland.

Inspired by a podcast that examined the case of a real-life arsonist, this thriller cleverly plays games with its audience, slowly revealing how things are not what they seem when it comes to its characters’ private lives. Dennis Lehane knows how to thrill his audience, but he packs an awful lot into this limited series and it’s too over-the-top at times.

Excellent cast, especially Egerton who comes to symbolize the angst of unfulfilled dreams.
