The Comey Rule

AVERAGE

WHATEVER SIDE YOURE ON, YOU ONLY KNOW HALF THE STORY.

As the 2016 election approaches, the FBI are investigating Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, putting Director James Comey (Jeff Daniels) in an impossible situation.

Reviled by Democrats who blamed him for Clinton losing the election and subsequently fired by President Trump for not showing him loyalty, it was indeed a tumultuous year for Jim Comey. This watchable miniseries shows events from his perspective, and casting Daniels is one way of making sure the portrait is heroic.

It’s impossible to take your eyes off Brendan Gleeson as the tragicomic Trump.

2020-U.S. 205 min. Color. Written and directed by Billy Ray. Book: James Comey (”A Higher Loyalty”). Cast: Jeff Daniels (James Comey), Brendan Gleeson (Donald Trump), Scoot McNairy (Rod Rosenstein), Holly Hunter, Jennifer Ehle, Michael Kelly, Oona Chaplin, Peter Coyote, William Sadler.

Trivia: Originally shown in either two or four episodes. Co-executive produced by Ray. Anthony Hopkins was reportedly considered for the part of Trump; Liev Schreiber and Kyle Chandler as Comey.
