PREPARE FOR THE END.

The fourth (and marketed as the last) Conjuring movie is primarily set in 1986, when the Warrens struggle with Ed’s failing health, meeting their daughter Judy’s new boyfriend, and reluctantly coming out of retirement for yet another case, the evil presence in a Pennsylvania family’s household.

As in the other films, the story was based on an actual case that the Warrens investigated, but the haunting and its horror effects feel fairly generic. That said, good atmosphere and likable characterizations help.
