LOVE IS A JOURNEY WORTH TAKING.

Heather (Madelyn Cline) is backpacking in Spain together with her friends when she meets Jack (KJ Apa) on a train to Barcelona; Hemingway helps them strike a connection.

Lasse Hallström has a history of making soapy dramas for a young audience; perhaps it’s a way for the 79-year-old to stay young. He does a pretty good job, together with his cinematographer, capturing the romantic beauty of Barcelona and sense of freedom that a backpacking adventure might give.

If only the story wasn’t so painfully bland and predictable.
