The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

A NEW EVIL AWAKENS.

When the British government needs their help protecting a precious diamond as it is transported to China, Rick and Evelyn O’Connell (Brendan Fraser, Maria Bello) are coaxed out of retirement; unfortunately, the gem has the power to bring dead armies back to life.

Rob Cohen as director should have been a chance to bring the franchise new life. But this third chapter still came out a frantically paced, charmless mess with plastic-looking CGI and uninteresting characters.

Fraser is fine, but Jet Li’s mummy disappoints.

2008-U.S.-Germany-Canada. 112 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Rob Cohen. Cast: Brendan Fraser (Rick O’Connell), Jet Li (Emperor Han), Maria Bello (Evelyn O’Connell), John Hannah, Michelle Yeoh, Luke Ford.

Trivia: Co-produced by Stephen Sommers. Joe Johnston was considered for directing duties.
