IF THE SHOE DOESN’T FIT…

18-year-old Elvira (Lea Myren) dreams of marrying a handsome prince (Isac Calmroth), but in order to gain his favor she must endure excruciating pain to become pretty.

For this schlocky body horror movie, the director’s feature debut, she was inspired by her own struggles with body image and the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, ”Cinderella” in particular.

Darkly enjoyable most of the time, with plenty of torture for those who can take it, even if it’s light on surprises. Myren gives a no-holds-barred performance.
