One of the most financially successful indies ever made got a boost from a conservative Christian audience, and addresses an important, highly relevant issue, but was also damaged by QAnon lies spread by the film’s star (and the real-life Ballard).

As a film, it also suffers from poor pacing and melodramatic moments, even if Caviezel and Bill Camp are fine.
