BELOW AVERAGE

As America struggles with the impact of the Vietnam war and changing cultural mores, an elderly Manhattan couple (Woody Allen, Elaine May) take in a young activist (Miley Cyrus) who changes their lives.

Allen reluctantly agreed to make this miniseries and ended up regretting the experience – watching it makes you realize that his approach is all wrong. This is essentially what he’d do for the movies, but tediously drawn out in six episodes when a 80-minute feature would have been much better.

A few good jokes and a few charming performances from its older cast, but a slow, painfully slight story.
