Inside the Trustor Scandal

One of the most sensational crimes committed in the world of Swedish finance took place in 1997 when a group of swindlers robbed an investment firm, using an eccentric British lord as a front. Ever since the whole affair blew up, the brains behind the scheme, Joachim Posener, has been on the run.

Now, three decades later, he steps out of the shadows to tell his side of the story – and so do several of the other suspects, along with a few other main characters. Director Karin af Klintberg takes us along for a slick, very entertaining and enlightening ride that lets its audience decide for themselves whom to believe.

It’s a colorful, fascinating gang; Posener’s smarmy cousin, Thomas Jisander, comes across as comically untrustworthy.

2026-Sweden. VOD. 102 min. Color. Directed by Karin af Klintberg.

Trivia: Original title: Trustorhärvan. The story was also told in a miniseries, Golden Boys (2026).

Last word: “It wasn’t the financial fortunes that were important to me, but the psychology behind the crime. Why do they leave their safe upper-middle-class environment and take this step? I would have had a moral compass there myself.” (af Klintberg, TT)
