One day in 1982, the Platts discover that their whole neighborhood has been transported to a time and place millions of years away.

There were some excited critics who called this adventure better than any sequel to Jurassic Park (1993), but it is in fact just as good as those movies – never quite living up to its promise, but still delivering lots of well-staged dinosaur action. Unexpectedly brutal at times, but also funny and exciting, its high concept sprinkled with 1980s nostalgia.

Anne Hathaway is the cast stand-out, as an aspiring writer who takes charge of the family.
