In Malmö, a young community worker (Peshang Rad) takes a teenager (Rudwan Socdal) under his wing, hoping to turn him into a basketball pro, if only he can keep him away from the gangs.
Nicolas Lunabba’s personal, internationally acclaimed, account of what it really takes for a society to combat gang violence, apart from police work, is turned into a good movie that gets a boost from Rad’s performance as the soft-spoken, dedicated but lonely Nic who sees a lot of himself in the kid he helps.
Borderline too sentimental and simplistic at times, but still effective and (hopefully) inspirational.
