In 2008, Nissan launches a new initiative aiming to find ”Gran Turismo” players who are good enough to become actual racing drivers; British teenager Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe) beats the odds.

Making a film out of this popular video game franchise looked like a boring idea, but Mardenborough’s underdog story is engaging, down-to-earth and emotional in a way that makes this project more than just a feature-length commercial.

Thrilling race scenes, and the two leads are good as wide-eyed student and gruff mentor.
