DROP DEAD, GORGEOUS.
In 1988, the teens in Shadyside are preparing for prom, but soon the murders begin.
This fourth film is a step down from the original trilogy. A new writing and directing team make a few obligatory references to Fear Street: 1978, but largely craft a stand-alone slasher that may not stint on the blood but comes up short in terms of story.
Much of the film is a standard genre exercise, obsessed with the 1980s, introducing forgettable characters and a final twist that’s hard to take seriously.
