THE PAST CAN BE A TRIGGER.
This spin-off movie takes place between the third and fourth John Wick chapters, taking a minor character and building an origin story for a ballerina and trained assassin.
Anne Parillaud, of La Femme Nikita (1990) fame, has a small role but the film isn’t much of a nod to its famous genre predecessor, even if it does vary the kills well enough; expect grenades and flamethrowers in a scenic Alpine village.
OK performances, but the formula feels a bit stale.
