American Anna De La Vega (Sofia Carson) goes to Oxford to study Victorian poetry, where she eventually falls for the handsome young aristocrat (Corey Mylchreest) teaching her class… but he has a secret.

There isn’t a thing in this Netflix romantic drama for young audiences that’s allowed to stray from its conservative formula. The film’s predictability is the main reason why this weepy, albeit likable, comes across as contrived and inauthentic.

The cast do what they can with shallow characters.
