Wales, 1976; a couple (Dev Patel, Rosy McEwen) living in an isolated cabin are visited by a mysterious child (Jade Croot).
There are things to be appreciated in this trippy folk horror tale, such as its attempt to make use of Welsh mythology (including fairy folk), its sound design (sound is a key ingredient in the leading characters’ professional and personal lives), and the ambiguous performance of 25-year-old Croot as a 14-year-old boy.
The film as a whole, though, is far too muddled to engage audiences.
