Over the course of two seasons, we followed events leading up to the stories of Star Wars (1977) and its prequel Rogue One (2016), focusing on the formation of the Rebel Alliance and its resistance to the authoritarian Galactic Empire.

Our main protagonist was a thief called Cassian Andor who ended up joining the Alliance. Among memorable friends and foes were Stellan Skarsgård as a secret operative hiding in the open as a charismatic antiquities dealer; Genevieve O’Reilly as a canny senator; and Denise Gough as Dedra who may have been too ambitious for her own good.

This was Star Wars as a political thriller; slickly produced, intelligent and emotional at times, but also talky and jarringly self-serious considering how it all began in 1977.
