In April 1940, as the Germans begin their invasion of Norway, it is up to Colonel Birger Eriksen (Bjørn Sundquist), commander of a fortress in the Oslofjord, to slow them down.
A war movie illustrating the fear, doubts and isolation inside the fortress as no one knows for sure if the threat is real or not – until the enemy ships suddenly emerge from the dark. It was up to Eriksen to make very difficult decisions, questioned by a military commission in 1946.
This conventional but still exciting film pays tribute to his leadership; the sinking of the German heavy cruiser Blücher is chillingly reenacted.
