Among the crimes committed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s regime during his war with Hamas after October 7th, 2023, is the killing of hundreds of journalists trying to do their job in Gaza.
One of them was the young Palestinian photojournalist Fatima Hassouna, whose photos of everyday life in this part of the world were highlighted in this documentary by the Iranian-French filmmaker Sepideh Farsi, who connected with Hassouna in 2024 and spent many months getting to know her in video calls that became the basis for this documentary.
So do we; the shaky satellite connection is a constant challenge, but a moving portrait emerges of a bright, brave and radiant young woman, sharing her dreams and life in Gaza.
2025-France-Palestine-Iran. 113 min. Color. Directed and photographed by Sepideh Farsi. Editing: Sepideh Farsi, Farahnaz Sharifi.
Trivia: Hassouna was killed along with family members in an Israeli airstrike the day after learning that this film would premiere in Cannes.
