A gambler in Macau known as Lord Doyle (Colin Farrell) faces mounting debts, but is charmed by a credit broker (Fala Chen).

In Edward Berger’s hands, Lawrence Osborne’s psychological thriller becomes an angst-ridden study of an addict who’s trying to come across as a wealthy aristocrat; his fling with Dao-Ming turns into a haunting affair.

The film struggles with its tonal shifts and a less than riveting journey through Doyle’s mind… but Farrell is great and cinematographer James Friend offers seductive views of Macau.
