The Grinch

STEALING CHRISTMAS 2018.

As the Grinch prepares to sabotage Christmas celebrations in Whoville, six-year-old Cindy Lou needs to have a serious talk with Santa.

A huge box-office success, this take on the Dr. Seuss story is a vast improvement on the 2000 version, and it could be argued that animation is what works best if you want to make the most of the Grinch’s war on Christmas. Made by Illumination, there are ingredients that remind one of the Despicable Me films.

Funny and well-paced, without forgetting that it should also be sweet. Benedict Cumberbatch does a fine job voicing the Grinch.

2018-U.S. Animated. 86 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Scott Mosier, Yarrow Cheney. Book: Dr. Seuss (”How the Grinch Stole Christmas!”). Music: Danny Elfman.
