Director Ester Martin Bergsmark spent the last decade making a few shorts and developing this hybrid documentary, shooting dreamy and eerie scenes at different castles and recording conversations that address their experiences of being trans, and thoughts on the future. Does a new gender identity bring fresh hopes of actually growing old?

In Bergsmark’s mind, the visuals are connected to what’s being said, and possibly to one another, but it’s hard to tell. There is a grandeur to the look and sound of the film, best enjoyed in a theater.

But it’s also a tough nut to crack, an art installation for a very small audience.
