A drama set in the world of fashion, but showing very little interest in it, even though the filmmakers were granted a rare permission to shoot behind the scenes at Chanel.

Perhaps an attempt to make us understand the allure of that world would have given the film a well-needed boost.

Director Alice Winocour focuses on three women who are connected to fashion in different ways, but the only truly heartfelt part is Maxine’s battle with cancer, informed by both Winocour and Angelina Jolie’s own experiences.
