An amiable little drama that feels personal because it is.
Written by Sophie Fillières, who passed away in 2023, the film was directed by her husband and provides Fabrice Luchini with a perfect part that is amusingly connected to his real life – both Luchini and his alter ego Zucchini are actors who perform on stage, reciting texts by Victor Hugo.
In a lighthearted and humorous manner, the story has Zucchini dealing with loneliness, aging, a new generation giving Hugo a feminist spin, and his own inability to heal the relationship with his daughter (Marie Narbonne).
2026-France. 89 min. Color. Directed by Pascal Bonitzer. Screenplay: Sophie Fillières. Cast: Fabrice Luchini (Robert Zucchini), Chiara Mastroianni (Annabelle), Marie Narbonne (Lisbeth Rockwell), Suzanne de Baecque, Louise Orry-Diquéro, Iris Bry.
