In 1996, two lonely teenagers (Justice Smith, Jack Haven) start watching a cult TV series together, a habit that changes their lives.
As in the director’s last film, We’re All Going to the World’s Fair (2021), this psychological thriller becomes a clever opportunity for them to address their trans identity. It’s a story of what we’ve buried deep within, with a timid, young man at the center, during two periods of his life.
The line between fiction and reality is porous in a neon-glowing film whose slow pace and moroseness get an upper hand.
