Lee Cronin’s The Mummy

SOME THINGS ARE MEANT TO BE BURIED.

Eight years after the disappearance of a young American girl who was abducted in Cairo, her parents (Jack Reynor, Laia Costa) learn that she’s been found, alive… inside a sarcophagus.

That’s right, this isn’t Brendan Fraser’s The Mummy, but rather a return to full-throated horror. The director passed on the sequel to Evil Dead Rise (2023), but finds plenty of opportunities to fill this movie with wicked demons taunting their victims. Grotesque, funny and very entertaining at times, even if goes on too long.

Verónica Falcón is the standout as a God-fearing, feisty abuelita.

2026-U.S. 134 min. Color. Widescreen. Written and directed by Lee Cronin. Cast: Jack Reynor (Charlie Cannon), Laia Costa (Larissa Cannon), May Calamawy (Dalia Zaki), Natalie Grace (Katie Cannon), Shylo Molina, Billie Roy.

Trivia: Co-produced by James Wan; co-executive produced by Cronin.
