A FRIENDSHIP WITH MAJOR RED FLAGS.

In 1987, a U.S. fighter pilot (Ryan Reynolds) is shot down over the Soviet Union and rescued by Nik (Kenneth Branagh), a friendly man with special skills.

An old-fashioned action-comedy in the vein of the directing duo’s previous films, anchored by a familiar but funny Reynolds performance, and the irresistible sight of Branagh moving into Liam Neeson territory as the former KGB operative who nurses a childish love for America, a country he’s only seen in movies.

The story may not be much, but the escape through the U.S.S.R. offers equal amounts of thrills and laughs.
