A TIME-TRAVELING, DOUBLE-CROSSING, ASS-KICKING COMEDY.
A loan shark (Vince Vaughn) tells his gangster buddy Mike (James Marsden) that he needs him to do him a favor; what he doesn’t tell Mike is that a time machine has made things very complicated.
On paper, this action-comedy with sci-fi elements shouldn’t work; there’s just too much of everything, including a double dose of Vaughn. But its silliness is infectious, with a Billy Joel-themed opening, a mob family consisting of very stupid but emotional men, Dolph Lundgren as a cannibalistic hit man and a big argument over the merits of Gilmore Girls.
The cast is game and you will certainly not be bored.

Last word: “I find musicals and action movies, sometimes, kind of interchangeable in terms of how they’re constructed. Choreography is choreography. Sometimes, a big Jackie Chan fight is similar to a dance sequence, to me. So this movie also has that feeling to it. Part of the reason I cast Marsden is because I watched Hairspray. I think that if you can do a really good dance number, you can do [action].” (Grabinski, Indiewire)
