HERE COMES THE MOTHERF*%#ING BRIDE!
A woman (Jessie Buckley) in 1930s Chicago dies in an accident and is reanimated as a new bride for Frank (Christian Bale), a monster stitched together back in the early 1800s.
A variation on Bride of Frankenstein (1935) that borrows from musicals, gangster movies and Bonnie and Clyde (1967), complete with a feminist message.
Buckley is amazing as the unhinged bride… but this is such a trainwreck. A long, pretentious, mad pastiche of everything and nothing.
2026-U.S. 126 min. Color-B/W. Widescreen. Written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. Cast: Jessie Buckley (Ida/Penelope Rogers/The Bride), Christian Bale (Frank), Peter Sarsgaard (Jake Wiles), Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, Penélope Cruz.
