Once-promising tennis talent Dustin Boyd (Jake Johnson) injures his wrist and is told to try pickleball; he may look down on it, but finds an unexpected older friend in Candace (Mary Steenburgen).

A comedy that coasts mainly on two things: a charming portrait of a friendship between two people who need each other’s company at this particular time, and several cheerfully silly scenes that are played so straight you can’t help but laugh.

Johnson and Steenburgen are good in the leads, especially the former who hides a lonely and damn near sweet person behind a smug and delusional façade.
