It was pure coincidence that made Fran (Fran Drescher) from Flushing, Queens the well-to-do Sheffields’ nanny, but she proved to have good influence on the kids.

The extremely long romantic process that was going on between the nanny and her boss (Charles Shaughnessy) became part of the dynamic of this sitcom and so did the brutal differences between the British Sheffields and the New York Jewish Fines. Drescher, with her big hairdos, tight outfits, Streisand idolatry and horribly nasal speech, was a good star for the show but supporting turns from Daniel Davis and Lauren Lane were even funnier.

The show never deviated from its formula and its run should have been cut a little shorter, but it was certainly colorful.
