IF YOU LEAVE A DOOR HALF OPEN, SOON YOU’LL HEAR THE WHISPERS SPOKEN.
When his son is suddenly abducted, novelist Tom Kennedy (Adam Scott) learns that whoever did it might be a copycat killer – and that he needs his estranged father (Robert De Niro), a retired detective, to help him.
A serial killer thriller that desperately wants to be another Silence of the Lambs or Se7en, complete with a murky look and a preposterous story involving a jailed serial killer (Michael Keaton, who gives the most enjoyable performance) and his secretive tie to the copycat.
OK for what it is, but clichéd in many ways, in terms of genre conventions and themes.
