MADNESS CAN LEAVE A TRACE.

Another attempt to tell the story of Ted Kaczynski, brilliant mathematician and ruthless terrorist, this time by focusing on two critical periods: 16-year-old Ted’s involvement with a controversial psychological experiment while studying at Harvard, and an FBI agent becoming convinced 35 years later that the reclusive Kaczynski might be the Unabomber.

Shailene Woodley’s character never existed, and the film takes creative license with other details, but Jacob Tremblay is very good in the lead.

The two stories don’t gel all that well, but the filmmakers build up to an exciting climax.
