Underworld: Awakening

VENGEANCE RETURNS.

After humans learn about the existence of vampires and Lycans, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) is imprisoned in cryogenic suspension, but breaks free.

After a detour in the shape of a prequel (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) that only saw Beckinsale in a small part, she’s back for this fourth chapter that moves the story along and introduces new personal circumstances for Selene. Still, not that much has changed and fans will enjoy the constant battles between monsters in 3D.

Beckinsale is good, it’s never dull… but new villains and the script are weaker.

2012-U.S. 88 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Mårlind & Stein. Story: Len Wiseman, John Hlavin. Cast: Kate Beckinsale (Selene), Stephen Rea (Jacob Lane), Michael Ealy (Sebastian), Theo James, India Eisley, Sandrine Holt, Charles Dance.

Trivia: Co-produced by Wiseman. Followed by Underworld: Blood Wars (2017).
