Je M’Appelle Agneta

Agneta (Eva Melander), who’s 49, trapped in a loveless marriage and obsessed about everything French, is suddenly fired and does the unexpected: answering an ad that takes her to France for the first time.

There isn’t a single ingredient in this drama-comedy that you haven’t seen before, from the lead character who must learn to start living her life, to the clichéd portrait of a sleepy French hamlet, to the aging queen who must face his demons.

Still, a good cast, with a couple of attractive, funny or moving moments.

2026-Sweden. 113 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Johanna Runevad. Novel: Emma Hamberg. Cast: Eva Melander (Agneta), Claes Månsson (Einar), Björn Kjellman (Magnus), Jérémie Covillault, Anne-Marie Ponsot, Richard Forsgren.

Trivia: The novel was previously turned into a stage play.
