THEY’LL DIE WHEN THEY’RE DEAD.

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and his team of expendables try to prevent a mercenary from stealing nuclear warheads in Libya.

This belated fourth film saw the franchise in free fall; no wonder Stallone is barely in it. Jason Statham has been promoted, and he’s reliable as always, but what the cast needs is some form of surprise; neither heroes nor bad guys are engaging. The film’s poor sense of humor combined with cheap visual effects is a major handicap.

The ending’s twist is entirely expected.
