ALWAYS HAVE AN EXIT.
LAPD detective Lou Lubesnick (Mark Ruffalo) believes he’s on the trail of a special kind of thief; meantime, the person in question, Mike (Chris Hemsworth), is targeting an insurance broker (Halle Berry) who finds her career frustrating.
The director’s first work of fiction reveals an eye for Michael Mann thrillers, Heat (1995) in particular. Expect sleek nighttime L.A. visuals and a cop and a robber who are not simply good and evil.
Long and formulaic, but attractive and engaging; Ruffalo stands out in a good cast as the sloppy cop who hasn’t succeeded with much, but has a decent instinct.
